James P. Popino - President - Biosketch
James P. Popino – is a senior executive with more than forty years experience in consulting, management and professional services. He is the President of TVO Industries, Inc., a management consulting and merger and acquisition advisory firm headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
TVO specializes in industry research, mergers and acquisitions, capital funding, strategic planning, and company and product valuations.
Mr. Popino's management and professional experience with major multinational corporations (Mobil and Unisys/Sperry) encompasses a wide range of activities in operations management, strategic and resource planning, acquisitions and new business ventures, operations research and systems analysis, manufacturing, procurement, quality (TQM), design, telecommunications, publications, finance and accounting, real estate development and property management, plant and contract security, and administration.
His career included management and consulting assignments throughout the US, Europe, Africa, Australia, the Far East and the Caribbean.
Mr. Popino was a Senior Fellow at The Institute of Public Policy at George Mason University where he conducted research in regional analysis, technology transfer, and the impact of the technology sector upon local economies. He has constructed the most comprehensive database of technology companies in the National Capital Region.
Mr. Popino earned a degree in Economics (CCNY) and a M.B.A. in Finance (NYU). At NYU he completed additional postgraduate work in economics, mathematics and computer science in a doctoral program. From 1972 to 1979 he had been a member of the adjunct faculty of Fordham University's Graduate School of Business Administration. Since then he has been a faculty member at various undergraduate institutions where he lectured in Financial Management, Capital and Money Markets, Investments, and Computer Modeling. He has published papers and lectured at numerous international symposia.
He is a former Commissioner (eight years) of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority, a past Chairman of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce, a Founding Member of the Friends of the Chair in Local Government at George Mason University, Chairman of the Capital Formation Committee of the Northern Virginia Technology Council, and a former board member of the Fairfax Symphony, the United Way, and other community service organizations.
